Let it begin

The realisation has finally sunk in that in under 10 hours I'll be in Brasil for the World Cup.

Picture me sitting with 30 other hopeful Socceroos fans ahead of one of the most highly anticipated World Cups in decades.

The world's greatest tournament has returned to the 'Mecca' of football, Brasil, and the positivity from many of the other travelling fans is refreshing and a great start to what will be an amazing adventure.

To be travelling to the home of football for my first ever World Cup really is something special. Although I am travelling by myself I am definitely not alone. Beside me sit some of Australia's most die hard supporters all traveling for the one purpose: A passion and love for football.

It really is amazing how football can bring so many cultures together to the one country. It doesn't matter where you're from or what you speak, football will always continue to be the universal language.

I am yet to even step off the plane and already the excitement is something I have never felt before.

This trip will be an experience or a lifetime and something I will never forget. For the next three and a half weeks I'll not only be watching football, I'll be meeting some amazing people and also experiencing the life and culture of Brasil.

Could this be the year our beloved Socceroos repeat our past success from Germany in 2006?
