Phx & Perth tighten in title race

I don’t think many could see the rise of Wellington Phoenix coming. They’ve now won seven of their last 10 matches, jumping into second place on the A-League table... I’ve heard it all… and now their odds are slashed from $21 into now $8 to take the prized toilet seat across the Tasman. Leave me out of that, it’s just a matter of time until we see the old Phoenix again!

Back home, Perth has made some serious inroads into $9 for the title from $15 a couple of weeks ago but otherwise, there’s not a whole heap to get excited about and here we are saying that in Melbourne derby week!

Punters hate the sight of the two Melbourne teams at the moment and who can blame them after recent weeks? Both sides continue to leak late goals and with injuries and international call ups hampering Heart, we’re unlikely to see the skilful contest like last time, rather a war of attrition. If you do fancy a bit of a go in the Derby, Heart will go around $2.50 favourite even though they’ve claimed just two points in their last six starts, Victory are at $2.76. If you can’t get the splinters out of your backside, grab $3.30 the draw.

Now to the latest from the land of whingers.

United are goneski’s from both the FA Cup and Champions League already, I can not remember the last time we’ve said that at this time of the season, so 100% of their energy will go into their EPL title defence and after City slipping to Everton mid-week, they could well still get something out of the season – $2.55 to go back to back. Title favourites, Man City at $1.68, are like a four foot Victoria’s Secret model, nice to watch but probably too short.

The last two fixtures of the weekend are again the highlights here. After just managing a late equaliser at the Liberty Stadium against Swansea, Chelsea head back home to face Man United. Incredibly, AVB’s Blues will start favourites at $2.52 while United look value at $2.80, Draw $3.25. Tuesday morning sees Spurs head to Anfield to face the rampant Reds. If Liverpool can carry over their Cup form to the EPL then this will be a no brainer, but we haven’t seen any sign of that yet. The scousers are wanted by the punters though and some may be surprised to hear that they’ll go around $2.18 favourites against third placed Tottenham $3.30, $3.35 the draw.

This week’s Betstar special involves the colours Red and White. Even if you loathe these teams and/or colours, you may still want to get on. Grab Melbourne Heart, Arsenal and Liverpool to win this weekend for a smokin’ hot $8! (Normally $6.95) Get on it now… max bet $50 as we feel this one will be our most popular yet!

I’m off on two weeks break, I need to lie down after hearing Wellington are a title chance, so until then happy punting!
