In the big news of the week, Melbourne Victory have finally lost patience with Mehmet Durakovic, his sacking has led to the rumour mill running riot in Melbourne town and Betstar has its take on who will next land in the Victory hot seat.

Former Sydney and Newcastle boss Branko Culina has been installed a $2.50 favourite with Frank Farina just behind on $2.75. There is some talk that Victory are aiming to go abroad, former Hull manager Iain Dowie is $6.50 but the mysterious one here is Lawrie McKinna, who would make a stunning return to the A-League, his price is $7.50. Then you have ex-NQ Fury/beige jacket man Franz Straka $8, Muscat to be a shock full-time appointment at $9.

Our special this week has two A-League title contenders involved on the road. You can get both Central Coast Mariners and Melbourne Heart to win away from home on Sunday for the super price of $6.50. A special treat for GGArmy followers!

We’ve been used to the words ‘back to back’ for Man United over the years but not in terms of defeat. So many are in shock with their two recent defeats and what better way to see their true colours with a Manchester derby right after those awful loses.

The Manchester derby is the headline act of a gigantic FA Cup third round weekend, where United $3.45 are significant underdogs against City $2.10, let’s not forget City are reigning FA Cup champs too.

There’s a few ‘potential banana skins’ in there for premier league teams – Arsenal $1.26 hosting Leeds $11, both have patchy league form and its possible Leeds may again go on a giant killing run like recent years. QPR $2.44 head to stadium MK to face MK Dons $2.80 and maybe the R’s could field a weakened team as they look to consolidate their place in the Premier League. One thing is for sure it will be a great weekend with lower teams like Shrewsbury Town, Fleetwood Town and Salisbury City amongst many hoping to have their name in lights come Monday.

Until next week, happy punting!
