Sam Kerr drew a rare blank while Hayley Raso was in the thick of the goalmouth action among our Australians in the National Women’s Soccer League.

Sam Kerr started and played the full game but didn’t score as Chicago Red Stars won 1-0 away to Washington Spirit.

Kerr fizzed an eighth minute chance wide but otherwise didn’t have many opportunities on goal.

Mackenzie Arnold was an unused sub for Chicago while Elise Kellond-Knight and Amy Harrison both started for Washington.

Harrison was replaced at half-time while Kellond-Knight played until the 84th minute.

Hayley Raso was a half-time substitute for compatriot Caitlin Foord as Portland Thorns won 2-1 over North Carolina Courage.

Both goals were own goals and on both occasions Raso was in the thick of the goalmouth action.

Ellie Carpenter was an 85th minute substitute for the Thorns.

Clare Polkinghorne and Kyah Simon both played their part as Houston Dash triumphed 1-0 away to Orlando Pride.

Polkinghorne put in a full shift while Simon was a 79th minute substitute.

Alanna Kennedy played a full game for Orlando in defence.

Steph Catley put in a full shift as Reign FC lost 3-1 at home to Utah Royals.

Lydia Williams was absent for Reign FC.
