Midweek Roos Central: Amini assist, McDonald goal

Socceroo Mustafa Amini set up a goal in Denmark’s Superliga, while experienced Australian striker Scott McDonald netted in the Scottish FA Cup quarter-finals.

Firstly to the Danish Superliga where Mustafa Amini produced a fine pass for AGF’s 48th minute goal which gave them the lead.

AGF ended up going down 2-1 to OB, despite Amini’s lofted passes which set up Kasper Jakobsen.

Amini started and played a full game for AGF who are ninth on the table.

In England’s Championship on Wednesday, Massimo Luongo earned a 6/10 rating from Football.London after his full shift in QPR’s poor 2-1 home loss to Rotherham United.

Football.London wrote: “Got stuck in in midfield, winning the ball in dangerous positions, but couldn’t do a lot more with it than that.”

Ryan Williams was an unused sub for Rotherham.

Jackson Irvine also received a 6/10 rating from the Hull Daily Mail as Hull City went down 3-2 to Norwich City on Wednesday.

The Hull Daily Mail wrote: “Switched out to the left flank to accommodate Stewart before dropping deeper as more natural width was introduced late on. Not one of City’s worst offenders by any means, with commitment never wavering.” 

In the AFC Champions League, Milos Degenek put in a full shift as Al Hilal eased past Qatari club Al Duhail 3-1 on Tuesday.

On Monday, Matthew Jurman put in a full shift in Al Ittihad’s 4-1 loss at Al Wahda, while Brad Jones was in goal as Al Nassr went down 3-2 at home to Iran’s Zob Ahan.

Jones was caught in no man’s land from a set-piece for Zob Ahan’s first goal, before being beaten at his near post for their second.

Zob Ahan grabbed a late winner from a long throw-in which was allowed to bounce inside the box, with Jones beaten from a Amir Motahari header.

In England’s Championship on Tuesday, Bailey Wright was an unused substitute as Bristol City drew 0-0 with bottom club Ipswich Town who didn’t select Callum Elder.

In England’s League One on Tuesday, Barnsley’s Kenny Dougall and Scunthorpe’s Cameron Burgess both played full games, while Bradden Inman started and played 89 minutes for Rochdale.

In Scotland’s FA Cup quarter-final replays, Scott McDonald gave Partick Thistle a shock lead with a 17th minute goal before they lost 2-1 away to Hearts.

Ben Garuccio put in a full shift for Hearts, while Oliver Bozanic was an unused sub.
