Robbie Kruse, Mathew Leckie and Craig Goodwin headlined this weekend's edition with goals, while Mile Jedinak and Trent Sainsbury returned.

Kruse opened his account for his new German 2.Bundesliga club VfL Bochum barely a week after controversially starting up front for Australia against Japan.

The winger netted the match winner on 86 minutes as Bochum edged Jamie Maclaren's Darmstadt 2-1 on Sunday.

Maclaren was an unused sub while Kruse put in a full shift.

Elsewhere in Germany on Sunday, Mathew Leckie continued his stellar early goalscoring form with a strike in Hertha Berlin's 1-1 draw with Werder Bremen.

Leckie opened the scoring on 38 minutes, fresh from a double on the opening day of the season and Australia's winner against Thailand.

In the Dutch Eredivisie, Craig Goodwin scored the only goal of the game after 18 minutes as Sparta Rotterdam knocked off Twente 1-0.

Mark Birighitti debuted for NAC Breda in a 2-1 loss to AZ, while Ajdin Hrustic and Terry Antonis were both unused subs as Groningen drew 1-1 with VVV Venlo.

In Spain’s La Liga, Mitch Langerak missed out on his Levante debut and was left out altogether as they drew 1-1 away to Real Madrid.

In the EPL on Monday, Aaron Mooy played a full game after Socceroos duty as Huddersfield went down 2-0 away to West Ham.

Mat Ryan returned from international duty to play a full game as Brighton claimed their first win of the season, 3-1 over West Bromwich.

Brad Smith was absent as Bournemouth lost 3-0 at Arsenal.

In England’s Championship, Mile Jedinak returned to Aston Villa’s squad but was an unused sub in a 0-0 draw with Brentford.

Massimo Luongo put in a full shift and set up QPR’s winner in a 2-1 victory over Ipswich, while Jackson Irvine debuted for Hull City in a 5-0 loss to Derby County.

There was no debut for Jason Davidson in Croatia as NK Rijeka thrashed Cibalia 7-0.

In the Chinese Super League, Trent Sainsbury returned to the Jiangsu Suning starting line-up and put in a full shift after injury in a goalless draw with Shandong Luneng.

Staying in Asia, Ryan McGowan debuted with a full game for Al Sharjah in a 2-0 home loss to Emirates in the UAE League Cup.
