Massimo Luongo helped Sheffield Wednesday to an FA Cup upset while Brad Jones was the penalty shootout hero in Saudi Arabia’s Super Cup final.

Massimo Luongo returned from a head injury as Sheffield Wednesday pulled off an FA Cup upset with a 1-0 win away to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

Brighton’s Aussie pair Aaron Mooy and Mat Ryan were both absent.

Luongo earned a 7/10 rating from the Sheffield Star, who wrote: “His energy, enthusiasm and drive shone through in an excellent team display.

“It will be interesting to see whether Monk sticks with Luongo for Leeds or brings back Sam Hutchinson and Barry Bannan into midfield.”

Luongo won the foul, which led to the winner from the resultant free-kick.

Ryan Edwards scored as Burton Albion were knocked out of the FA Cup 4-2 by fourth tier Northampton Town on Sunday.

Edwards pulled a goal back on the stroke of half-time to make it 3-1 as Northampton produced a shock first-half blitz.

The Australian, who put in a full shift, latched on to a loose ball and converted from close range.

Brad Jones was in goal as Al Nassr knocked off Al Taawon 5-4 in a penalty shootout in the final of the Saudi Arabian Super Cup on Saturday.

Jones put in a full shift as the match ended 1-1 before making the decisive penalty save from Talal Alabsi’s effort.

The shootout was 5-4, with Alabsi needing to score to keep it alive, when Jones denied him.
