Socceroos Central: Mooy penalty denied

Aaron Mooy and Mat Ryan were in action in the Premier League on Boxing Day, while Bailey Wright’s Bristol City moved into the automatic promotion spots.

Aaron Mooy played a full game as Huddersfield claimed a 1-1 draw with Stoke City in the Premier League.

Mooy was given a 7/10 by the Huddersfield Examiner.

“Grew into the game and was unlucky to be denied a stone-wall penalty by the ref,” the Examiner wrote.

Mat Ryan put in a full shift as Brighton & Hove Albion went down 2-0 at Chelsea.

Ryan wasn’t at fault for either of the goals from Alvaro Morata and Marcos Alonso.

Bailey Wright played a full game as Bristol City moved up to second in the English Championship with a 2-0 win over Reading.

Jackson Irvine put in a full shift as struggling Hull City drew 0-0 with Derby, while James Meredith played a full game as Millwall drew 2-2 with Wolverhampton.

Mile Jedinak played a full game as Aston Villa stumbled 2-1 at Brentford, while Massimo Luongo put in a full shift in a 0-0 draw away to Ipswich.

In League One, Bradden Inman (started, played 64 minutes), Ryan Williams (started, played 58 minutes) and Cameron Burgess (full game) got minutes, while Callum Elder was an unused sub.

Tom Rogic was absent due to injury in the SPL as Celtic won 2-0 at Dundee, who had Jesse Curran on the bench.

Aziz Behich put in a full shift as Bursaspor lost 1-0 to Genclerbirligi in the Turkish Cup.
