Aaron Mooy returned for the first time in a month after injury, Mat Ryan saved a penalty and Jackson Irvine and Jamie Maclaren got on the scoresheet in the weekend’s action.

In England’s Premier League on Saturday, Aaron Mooy started and played 69 minutes in Huddersfield’s 0-0 draw with Swansea City.

Mooy was rated 8/10 by the Huddersfield Examiner in his first appearance in a month after a knee injury.

The Australian almost set up a first-half goal, when his diagonal cross found Steve Mounie, but his header was just over the bar.

Elsewhere in the EPL, Mat Ryan saved an 88th minute penalty from Wayne Rooney in Brighton’s 2-0 loss at Everton.

The Australian goalkeeper did well, diving to his right and making a strong double-handed save from Rooney’s spotkick.

In Scotland's Premier League on Sunday, Tom Rogic fired in a stunning left-foot strike as 10-man Celtic defeated rivals Rangers 3-2.

Rogic received the ball in midfield, evaded one tackle and drove forward, before unleashing a superb strike from 20 metres to make it 1-1.

The Australian midfielder has only recently returned from a two-month absence with a knee injury and was replaced after an hour.

In the Dutch Eredivisie on Sunday, one-time Socceroo Ajdin Hrustic scored as Groningen defeated Zwolle 2-0.

Hrustic netted in the 90th minute before being replaced deep into stoppage-time.

The Aussie winger jinked past a Zwolle defender in the box before his deflected found the back of the net.

In England’s Championship, Jackson Irvine opened the scoring with a cool left-foot finish in Hull City’s 4-3 win over Norwich City.

Irvine put in a full shift in the win, while Bailey Wright, Mile Jedinak, Massimo Luongo and James Meredith also all played full games.

Tim Cahill was an 87th minute substitute for Millwall in their 1-0 win over Brentford.

In Germany’s 2.Bundesliga, Brandon Borrello provided an assist as Kaiserslautern lost 2-1 at Greuther Furth.

Mathew Leckie was an unused substitute for Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga as they drew 0-0 with SC Freiburg.

In Scotland’s Premier League on Friday, Jamie Maclaren scored as Hibernian defeated Edinburgh rivals Hearts 2-0.
