Brandon O’Neill made his debut for Pohang Steelers and played a role in their goal as they drew 1-1 away to Daegu FC in the Korean K League on Saturday.

O’Neill, who joined Pohang in January from Sydney, was an unused sub on the opening weekend but got his chance on matchday two.

The Australian midfielder started in his preferred deep central midfield role, with his turnover leading to his side’s 43rd minute goal.

O’Neill won possession with a good tackle in midfield, before releasing Song Ming-Kyu down the left, whose central pass found Aleksandar Palocevic to fire home.

O'Neill was replaced in the 85th minute with the Pohang boss bringing on an additional striker to chase a winner late on.

Elsewhere in the K League, Adam Taggart was a shock non-starter as Suwon Bluewings blew a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 to Jason Davidson’s Ulsan Hyundai on Sunday.

Taggart came off the bench in the 60th minute, with his side 2-1 up.

Scores were level when Taggart had a chance to restore his side's lead in the 76th minute, when he got in behind the defence but Ulsan's keeper saved his effort inside the box.

Davidson put in a full shift at left-back for Ulsan. Terry Antonis was out suspended.

Rashid Mahazi dropped out of the Incheon United side which drew 0-0 at Seongnam in the late Sunday kick-off.

In the K2 League on Sunday, Connor Chapman was out injured as Daejeon Hana Citizen drew 2-2 with Chungnam Asia.

He explained on Twitter he's a few weeks away from returning from injury.

Nick Ansell was absent as Gyeongnam FC drew 2-2 at Seoul E-Land on Sunday.

In the German Bundesliga on Saturday, both Socceroos Brandon Borrello and Mathew Leckie were left out of their respective clubs’ matchday squads.

Borrello’s SC Freiburg managed a commendable 1-1 draw at RB Leipzig, while Leckie’s Hertha Berlin claimed an impressive 3-0 win at TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
