Socceroo Tom Rogic was the headline act on Saturday with the opening goal in Celtic's 2-0 win over rivals Rangers in the Scottish Premier League.

Rogic opened the scoring on 50 minutes, turning and shooting after a corner was only half cleared.

The goal was Rogic's fourth in all competitions this season, having made 14 appearances.

Leigh Griffiths added Celtic's second goal on 65 minutes to seal the win.

In the English Premier League on Sunday, Mat Ryan kept a clean sheet as Brighton & Hove Albion defeated Newcastle 1-0.

The clean sheet comes amid more pressure on Ryan following an indifferent start to the season and Brighton's permanent signing of Tim Krul.

Brighton boss Chris Hughton said: "We certainly had to keep a clean sheet against a very good Newcastle side and just look for those moments.

"We needed that little bit of brilliant or fortune, but it was certainly good to get the clean sheet today."

On Saturday, Aaron Mooy put in a full shift as Huddersfield drew 0-0 away to Burnley.

In the German 2.Bundesliga on Sunday, Robbie Kruse scored again for VfL Bochum in a 2-0 win over Ingolstadt.

Kruse, who has now scored three goals in four games, made it 2-0 on 27 minutes.

Elsewhere in the 2.Bundesliga, Jamie Maclaren was a 72nd minute substitute as Darmstadt drew 3-3 with Dynamo Dresden.

In the Bundesliga, Mathew Leckie started and played 72 minutes as Hertha Berlin lost 1-0 at FSV Mainz.

In the Dutch Eredivisie on Sunday, Terry Antonis and Ajdin Hrustic were both unused subs for their clubs, having scored in midweek.

Kenny Dougall and Craig Goodwin both played full games on Saturday as Sparta Rotterdam lost 1-0 at ADO Den Haag.

Mark Birighitti starred for NAC Breda, saving a penalty, as they recorded a shock 2-0 win away to champions Feyenoord on Saturday.

Brad Jones put in a full shift for Feyenoord, who saw Michiel Kramer's 74th minute spotkick saved by Birighitti who dived low to his left.
