Mat Ryan made some top saves but was beaten in the English Premier League while Ryan Edwards and Nikita Rukavytsya both scored elsewhere on Saturday.

Mat Ryan earned a 7/10 rating as Brighton & Hove Albion lost 1-0 away to Everton in the English Premier League on Saturday.

Ryan made some good saves, including an early block from Theo Walcott and a second-half low parry from Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The Socceroo couldn’t do anything about Richarlison’s curling first half winner from inside the box.

Ryan also had a hairy moment in the 77th minute failing to claim a corner, with the ball ending up in the back of the net, before he was saved by VAR which spotted a handball.

The Brighton & Hove Independent gave Ryan a 7/10 rating and wrote: “Good save low to his right to deny Richarlison in the first half but no chance with the goal. Strong save to keep out Calvert-Lewin on 64 minutes.”

Aaron Mooy wasn't part of the matchday squad for the Seagulls with a knock with his absent felt.

In England’s Championship on Saturday, Jackson Irvine earned a 5/10 rating from the Hull Daily Mail as Hull City lost 1-0 at home to Fulham.

Irvine started and played 84 minutes in the defeat.

The Hull Daily Mail wrote: “Tasked with being the midfielder to play highest up the pitch and almost picked out the cross for Eaves to capitalise.

“Got through a huge amount of work but the final ball into key areas wasn’t there.”

Elsewhere, Massimo Luongo played his part as Sheffield Wednesday boosted their promotion hopes with a 2-0 win at leaders Leeds United.

Luongo started and played 77 minutes, but was replaced before his side’s two goals in the final five minutes.

In England’s League One on Saturday, Ryan Edwards netted a late winner as Burton Albion edged Harry Souttar’s Fleetwood Town 1-0.

Edwards and Souttar both played full games as the former popped up with an 89th minute header from close range.

In Israel’s Premier League on Saturday, Nikita Rukavytsya scored again as Maccabi Haifa won 2-0 at Maccabi Netanya.

Rukavytsya opened the scoring in the 56th minute, making it 12 goals this season for the league’s top scorer.

Trent Sainsbury also started for Maccabi Haifa in the win.
