Socceroos keeper Mat Ryan conceded a penalty, Mile Jedinak made a rare start and Alex Gersbach broke into the starting line-up of his new Dutch club NAC Breda over the weekend.

Mat Ryan had a difficult afternoon as Brighton & Hove Albion lost 3-1 at home to Burnley in the English Premier League on Saturday.

Ryan was beaten one-on-one by Chris Wood, before being unable to push away Wood’s effort for the second goal.

The Socceroos goalkeeper also gave away a penalty, earning a yellow card, leading to Burnley’s third goal, although Ryan was left horribly exposed.

The Brighton Argus rated him 6/10 and wrote: “He could have done better on the second Burnley goal.

“Conceded a penalty and possibly spared a red card by the fact the ball ran on to Wood.”

Aaron Mooy put in a full shift in midfield as Huddersfield’s relegation woes worsened after a hard-fought 2-1 loss to Arsenal at home.

The Huddersfield Examiner rated Mooy 8/10 and wrote: “Some quality attacking play and also did his defensive duties to the ultimate.”

Mile Jedinak made his first start in months, playing 66 minutes, as Aston Villa drew 3-3 with promotion hopefuls Sheffield United in the English Championship on Friday night.

Alex Gersbach made his second appearance for new club NAC Breda as they lost 3-0 at home to AZ Alkmaar in the Dutch Eredivisie on Saturday.
