Socceroos goalkeeper Mat Ryan produced a starring performance as Brighton won at Newcastle, while Tom Rogic and Martin Boyle both hit the scoresheet in Scotland.

Firstly to the Premier League where Mat Ryan kept a clean sheet in Brighton’s shock 1-0 win at Newcastle.

Ryan made a fine one-handed save early after a defensive lapse allowed Ayoze Perez in on goal.

The Aussie also made a reflex save from Jonjo Shelvey which fell into Yoshinori Muto’s path but he headed over.

Ryan also made a strong second-half save from Shelvey’s free-kick to maintain Brighton’s lead and help them to a key victory.

Elsewhere, Aaron Mooy put in a full shift as Huddersfield went down 1-0 to Liverpool.

The Huddersfield Examiner gave Mooy a 7/10 rating and wrote: “Caused Liverpool plenty of problems with his creativity in the middle of the park.”

In the Championship, Mile Jedinak was back on the bench for Aston Villa as they won 1-0 over Swansea, while Bailey Wright remains out injured for Bristol City.

In the Scottish Premier League, Tom Rogic impressed with a goal and an assist as Celtic defeated Hibernian 4-2.

Rogic worked a neat one-two before firing in a curled opener in the eighth minute. He then played a perfect pass into the box for Olivier Ntcham to make it 2-0.

Rogic was replaced after 72 minutes, along with Hibs’ Aussie defender Mark Milligan who had been skinned for pace by James Forrest for Celtic’s third goal.

New Socceroo Martin Boyle broke in behind Celtic’s defence before a cool finish to make it 3-2 in the 75th minute.

And Jamie Maclaren returned from a back injury in the 87th minute for Hibs.

In Denmark’s Superliga, Awer Mabil backed up his Socceroos debut goal with an assist as he played 63 minutes in Midtjylland’s 4-1 win at Nordsjaelland.
