Melbourne Victory says that Harry Kewell is receiving ongoing treatment for the hamstring tightness he sustained during the Socceroos’ World Cup qualifier against Oman on Friday.

Kewell arrived back in Melbourne on Sunday and has received individual treatment from club medical staff since.

The club’s statement appears to rubbish media reports that Kewell’s exit from the Socceroos camp was the result of an off-field disagreement between the player and team coach Holger Osieck rather than injury.

“[Kewell] will be given every chance to prove his fitness ahead of Sunday’s clash with Perth Glory at Etihad Stadium,” said the club this morning.
