How great will the A-League be this season?

There’s never been an off-season like it for Football in Australia. The code stealing headlines from rivals during their finals, media gathering at airports to see international signings and it’s reflected by Betstar punters queuing up for a crack at the A-League!

The season kicks off with none other than a little fixture in Melbourne, the seventh edition of the derby. Despite having the two titles, Heart so far have bragging rights and the better of Victory – two wins to one – the remaining three matches ending in the points being shared. I don’t think it’ll surprise many that Victory will start favourite, but the price may - $2.04 or if you think Heart will their claim their third derby you can take $3.60, $3.30 the draw.

Sydney begin their ADP era with one of the toughest trips in the league, away at the Caketin. Wellington put Sydney out of the finals last outing and they are $2.30 to do it again, $2.95 for the Sky Blues to exact revenge.

New boys Western Sydney host Central Coast at Parramatta Stadium and we’re all hoping the Wanderers fans turn up in their droves but how will their boys fare on the park? Punters think they’ll struggle $4.50 for a first up win, Mariners $1.78. Emile Heskey’s A-League debut will be against Adelaide, his Jets are $2.24 to kick off their campaign with a win while it’s another away trip this week for the reds, they’re returning from Uzbekistan following their AFC Champions League Semi Final exit against Bunyodkor, they’re $3.10 to claim a famous gutsy win.

Finally, the opening round finishes with the Grand Final rematch! This cannot be missed and so far this has attracted the most interest of the Round 1 fixtures. Brisbane started outsiders and the market has been completely reversed. Perth now outsiders at $2.70 with Brisbane now favourites at $2.48. Football returns to Subiaco/Patersons Stadium… tipping Besart Berisha will be as popular as Luis Suarez at a Patrice Evra Fan Club dinner. A real fascinating start to A-League
Season 8.

Couldn’t get any love for our charity bet last week, but let’s go again this week with: Liverpool (v Stoke City) into Manchester United +0.5pts (v Newcastle) into Southampton (v Fulham) into West Brom (v QPR) $5 at the price $9.37.

Finally, after punters cleaning us up in the last week, looks like Betstar’s habit of writing cheques to GGarmy fans won’t stop just yet with this cracker. You can get $2.50 for any of Alessandro Del Piero, Shinji Ono or Emile Heskey to score at ANY stage during Round 1! Max bet $50! Get in while you can!!

Remember if you’re not already a part of the crew at, when you sign-up please make sure you enter ‘GGARMY’ in the promo code to support Australia’s Football Fan network - the Green and Gold Army.

Until next week, happy punting!
