Socceroos stall, a Premier League contender to fall?

It’s been a week to forget on the national front where we’ve queried Holger’s selections and whether the old boys can carry us into Brazil 2014, but Betstar punters say ‘never fear’ because Australia is still heavily favoured to qualify for the next World Cup at $1.50, to miss out $2.50… great to see we’re still behind our lads!

Right, we now get time to take a deep breath and cop the wanted distraction of domestic football returning. An interesting time ahead as we find out whether the big boys can or can’t cope with multiple competitions this season. Players who’ve just returned from international duty could be faced with EPL action this weekend then potentially their Champions League campaign beginning next week.

QPR’s slow start to the season looks like it will continue when they host London rivals and Champions League holders Chelsea. Sparky’s boys are $4.40 to light up Loftus Road with a shock win, the Blues $1.81 to continue their 100% record in the league.

Stoke City host reigning champions Man City, Stoke $5.20 to grab all three points while Man City are $1.69 to overcome the intimidating atmosphere at the Britannia. Arsenal’s very short at $1.34 but then again I guess the Saints could still be thinking how did they let that slip against last outing against United? $8.60 for Southampton to recover and steal a famous victory at the Emirates. Brett Holman & Chris Herd’s Aston Villa at $2.26 will hope they can grab their first victory of the season against Welsh outfit Swansea City.

United at $1.23 looks free money against Wigan - who travel about as well as a kid with chickenpox on a plane. Sunderland $3.30 host Liverpool $2.18 and can Spurs earn full points for the first time? Socceroo Adam Federici will certainly hope not. His Royals are $3.80 for a home win against Tottenham at $1.95. Finally, it’s another Tuesday morning belter. Everton have at long last started a season with some points on the board but the visit on Newcastle could see that cease, well at least for the moment. The Toffees are $1.83, the Toon look value of the round at $4.40.

This week we’re back for our bet for charity and I must say I’ve got a little bit of headwobble around the Betstar office, proud to say delivering a nice little return last start. This brings our seasons balance to $205.62 and my multi this week is Arsenal to win (v Southampton) into Aston Villa to win (v Swansea) into Newcastle +0.5pts line (v Everton) $5 at $5.94

Now, it’s the moment you’ve been waiting for punters, Betstar’s GGArmy special. It’s a ripper too, you can get “Away Blues” – it’s both Chelsea (v QPR) and Man City (v Stoke) to win for $3.50 (normally $3.09!!) Max $100 bet! Get to it!

Remember if you’re not already a part of the crew at, when you sign-up please make sure you enter ‘GGARMY’ in the promo code to support Australia’s Football Fan network - the Green and Gold Army.

Until next week, happy punting!
