Caitlin Foord scored her eighth goal of the 2020-21 season as Arsenal eased past Hayley Raso’s Everton 4-0 in the English Women’s Super League on Sunday.

Foord scored her side’s second goal to make it 2-0 in the 10th minute, tapping in a simple left-foot finish at the back post from Jill Roord’s cross-goal cutback.

The Matilda had the chance at a second goal in the 15th minute when Jordan Nobbs found her on the edge of the box, but she fired over the bar.

Raso had a chance of her own in the 22nd minute, swooping on some errant Arsenal passing in defence but shooting narrowly wide of Lydia Williams’ post.

Foord should’ve scored her second and Arsenal’s fifth in the 68th minute, when she got in behind and rounded Everton keeper Alexandra MacIver but the stopper did well to block her angled shot.

Foord was replaced in the 72nd minute, while Raso also went off shortly after in the 73rd minute.

Williams put in a full shift and was more assured, with a clean sheet, while Steph Catley was absent with injury.

Arsenal boss Joe Montemurro explained: “She injured her hamstring in training and we’re just assessing the severity of it. I feel for Steph, she was back to her best and finding her rhythm.

“We do a lot of testing on calves and hamstrings in our strength and conditioning and all the signs were that she was strong in that area and out of nothing, she felt a twinge.

"We are assessing it now and will let you know where it’s at when we know more.”

Chloe Logarzo returned to action following a facial injury, starting and playing 68 minutes as struggling Bristol City lost 6-1 at Manchester United on Sunday. Ella Mastrantonio was an unused sub.

Elsewhere a series of Women’s Super League games were postponed, including Sam Kerr’s Chelsea who were due to meet Alanna Kennedy’s Tottenham, due to a number of COVID-19 cases within the squad.

Amy Harrison played a full game in midfield while Kyah Simon was an 81st minute substitute as PSV Eindhoven won 2-0 over Heerenveen in the Dutch Eredivisie Women on Sunday.

Beattie Goad put in a full shift as SV Meppen drew 0-0 in a relegation battle with MSV Duisburg in the German Frauen Bundesliga on Friday night.

Aivi Luik played a full game in defence as FC Sevilla were thrashed 6-0 by leaders Barcelona in the Spanish Primera Feminina Division on Saturday.

Alex Chidiac was an unused sub as Atletico Madrid claimed a 1-0 derby win away to Real Madrid on Saturday.
