Matildas Central: Raso assist on Man City debut

Hayley Raso marked her Manchester City debut with an assist as they won 4-0 over her former club Everton on the opening weekend of the English Women's Super League season.

Raso started and played the full 90 minutes, buzzing down the right flank in an advanced role, where she tested Everton keeper Alexandra MacIver early.

The Matildas winger got an assist in the 38th minute, breaking inside the box and cutting back centrally to find Khadija Shaw to make it 3-0.

Alanna Kennedy also debuted for City, coming off the bench in the 73rd minute.

Sam Kerr was involved in recycling play in the lead-up to Chelsea's second goal as they lost 3-2 to Steph Catley's Arsenal 3-2 on Sunday.

Kerr was a 56th minute substitute for the Blues, while Catley came off the bench on 61 minutes for the Gunners.

Lydia Williams was an unused sub for Arsenal with Caitlin Foord absent.

Arsenal's medical team confirmed pre-game that Foord "suffered a slight quad strain and will be unavailable for today’s game."

Mackenzie Arnold played a full game while Tameka Yallop was absent as West Ham United lost 2-0 at Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.

Emily Gielnik wasn’t in the Aston Villa squad following her move from Vittsjo, as the Villans won 2-1 over Leicester City.

Ellie Carpenter started and played 58 minutes as Olympique Lyonnais won 6-0 over Saint-Etienne in the French Feminine Division 1 on Sunday, while Mary Fowler was a 61st minute substitute as Montpellier lost 1-0 at home to PSG.

Ella Mastrantonio started and played 86 minutes as Lazio lost 1-0 at Internazionale in the Italian Serie A Women on Sunday, while Aivi Luik put in a full shift for new club Pomigliano in a 2-2 draw with Empoli.

Beattie Goad debuted for her new Spanish club Granadilla Tenerife in a 5-0 loss at Barcelona in the Primera Division Feminina. Goad was a 77th minute sub.

In Sweden's Damallsvenskan, Clare Polkinghorne played a full game for Vittsjo in a 1-0 win over Eskilstuna United, while Dylan Holmes was an 83rd minute substitute in Hacken's 1-0 victory at Pitea.

Goalkeeper Teagan Micah put in a full shift and Charlotte Grant started and played 67 minutes as Rosengard won 3-0 over AIK, while Winonah Heatley was an unused sub as Vaxjo lost 1-0 to Orebro.

Chloe Logarzo was a 57th minute substitute for bottom club Kansas City in a 0-0 home draw with North Carolina Courage in the NWSL.
