Martin Boyle and Trent Sainsbury both got among the goals this weekend, although the former also missed a spotkick, while Danny Vukovic was benched and Alex Gersbach made his return.

Martin Boyle had a busy afternoon, scoring one goal, missing a penalty and being involved in a red card incident as Hibernian won 2-0 over Hamilton in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday.

Boyle took his season tally in the league to 10 goals, netting in the 13th minute when he found space on the edge of the box and rifled a shot into the far corner.

Only a minute earlier, Hamilton's Jamie Hamilton was sent off for a lunge on Boyle, although there didn’t seem to be much contact and the Socceroo was injury free.

In the 34th minute, Hibs won a penalty which Boyle stepped up to take, but his spotkick was pushed away by Accies keeper Ryan Fulton.

Boyle played the full game and received a 9/10 rating from the Edinburgh Evening News, who wrote: "Has gone from being a peripheral figure to the centre of everything.

"Won the free kick that led to his opener, could have had a second from the penalty spot, and continued menacing Accies' full-backs throughout."

Jackson Irvine put in a full shift and earned a 7/10 rating from the Edinburgh Evening News, who wrote: "Some lovely touches in the first half but faded a bit in the second.

"Mind you, with Hibs doing most of their work down the flanks and Accies rarely venturing forward, he didn't have a great deal to do."

Tom Rogic started and played 67 minutes as Celtic lost further ground on leaders Rangers after a 1-0 loss away to Ross County on Sunday.

Rogic got a 5/10 rating from the Glasgow Live, who wrote: "Had little impact on the game with Christie and McGregor much more involved."

Trent Sainsbury got on the scoresheet upon his return to the Kortrijk starting line-up in a 2-0 win away to Anderlecht in the Belgian First Division A on Sunday.

Sainsbury made it 1-0 in the 45th minute, although it was relatively fortuitous, with Anderlecht goalkeeper Timon Wellenreuther pushing a corner into the onrushing Socceroo's head before deflecting in to the goal.

Danny Vukovic dropped to the bench as Genk's poor run of form continued with a 2-1 home loss to Beerschot on Sunday.

Mat Ryan was an unused sub as Arsenal lost 1-0 at home to Manchester City in the English Premier League on Sunday.

Mathew Leckie started and played an hour as Hertha Berlin lost 3-0 to RB Leipzig in the German Bundesliga on Sunday.

Ajdin Hrustic watched on from the bench as high-flying Eintracht Frankfurt recorded a significant 2-1 home win over champions Bayern Munich in the German Bundesliga on Saturday.

Harry Souttar played a full game in defence as Stoke City won 3-0 over Luton Town in the English Championship on Saturday.

Souttar got a 6/10 from the Stoke Sentinel who wrote: "Tested at times against Clark and Collins but Luton were limited to hopeful shots."

Massimo Luongo was absent injured while Riley McGree was an unused sub as Birmingham City won 1-0 at Sheffield Wednesday.

Milos Degenek started on the bench as Red Star Belgrade won 2-1 at Spartak Subotica in the Serbian SuperLiga on Sunday.

Alex Gersbach returned to the AGF line-up as an 85th minute substitute in a 2-0 win over Lawrence Thomas' SonderjyskE in the Danish Superliga on Sunday.

The appearance was Gersbach's first in the Superliga this season and comes after a midweek goal in the Danish Cup.

Thomas put in a full shift for SonderjyskE while Daniel Arzani was absent for AGF.

Awer Mabil was a 65th minute substitute as FC Midtjylland won 2-0 at AaB in the Danish Superliga on Friday night.

David Williams scored Mohun Bagan's second goal in their 3-1 win over East Bengal in the Indian Super League on Friday night.
