Socceroos Central: Hrustic's Eintracht beaten

Ajdin Hrustic was a 65th minute substitute as in-form Eintracht Frankfurt's winning run was halted with a 2-1 loss at Werder Bremen in the German Bundesliga on Friday night.

Mathew Leckie was out injured as Hertha BSC lost 2-0 at Wolfsburg on Saturday.

Danny Vukovic was benched again as Genk won 2-1 away to Charleroi in the Belgian First Division A on Friday night.

Trent Sainsbury was absent after scoring last weekend as Kortrijk lost 2-1 at home to Panos Armenakas' Zulte-Waregem on Saturday. Armenakas was an unused sub.

Harry Souttar played a full game as Stoke City went down 2-1 to promotion hopefuls Brentford in the English Championship on Saturday.

Souttar got a 7/10 rating from the Stoke Sentinel who wrote: "A big tactical, physical and technical test against Toney but couldn’t afford to give him even one sighter."

Martin Boyle played a full game and Jackson Irvine started and got through 79 minutes as Hibernian were beaten 2-0 at home by Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday.

Boyle received a 6/10 rating from the Edinburgh Evening News who wrote: "Buzzed about brightly in the first half but once he was shifted out wide in the second half, struggled to have much of an impact. Often wasteful."

Irvine only earned a 6/10. "Probably his least effective display since arriving at the club. Wasn't especially poor but is capable of more."

Elsewhere, Tom Rogic was absent in caretaker Celtic boss John Kennedy's first game in charge as the Hoops defeated Aberdeen 1-0.

Adam Taggart was absent as new club Cerezo Osaka started the Japanese J.League season with a 2-0 home win over Kashiwa Reysol on Saturday.

Mitch Langerak played a full game as Nagoya Grampus won 2-1 at Avispa Fukuoka on Sunday.

Alex Grant made his debut for Pohang Steelers as a 64th minute substitute but was replaced 20 minutes later in a 2-1 win over Incheon United in the Korean K-League on Sunday.

Harrison Delbridge was a 51st minute substitute for Incheon.
