Socceroos Central: Ryan & Mooy finish with win

Mat Ryan and Aaron Mooy finished off the 2019-20 Premier League with a win and 6/10 performances as Brighton triumphed 2-1 at Burnley on Sunday.

Ryan put in a full shift in goal, while Mooy was a 74th minute substitute in the final day victory.

The Socceroos goalkeeper earned a 6/10 rating from the Brighton & Hove Independent, who wrote: “A solid match to complete a solid season between the sticks.

“No chance with the goal, it was a classy finish from Chris Wood. A let off in the second half when Burnley thought they'd levelled but Gudmundsson was offside.”

Mooy earned a 6/10 from the Brighton & Hove Independent for his 20 minute cameo. They wrote: “On for Bissouma and was a reliable presence in the midfield.

“Whipped a low effort from 25 yards just wide of Pope's post and laid a clever ball to Aaron Connolly who saw his effort blocked.”

Awer Mabil put in a full shift as FC Midtjylland went down 2-1 at home to AaB in the Danish Superliga on Sunday.

Mabil was involved in the lead-up play when Sory Kaba won Midtjylland a penalty, which helped them pull a goal back in the 53rd minute.

Alex Gersbach, Mustafa Amini and Zach Duncan were all absent as AGF lost 1-0 at home to Brondby on Sunday.

Aziz Behich started in place of Gael Clichy at left-back but was replaced at half-time as champions Istanbul Basaksehir lost 3-2 at Kasimpasa in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday.

Istanbul BB were trailing 2-0 at the break when Behich was replaced, with Clichy getting the assist for both of their second-half goals.

Mitch Langerak’s Nagoya Grampus had their Japanese J.League game against Sanfrecce Hiroshima on Sunday postponed after more of his teammates tested positive to coronavirus.

Langerak previously confirmed he had tested positive to COVID-19.

Thomas Deng was absent as Urawa Reds won 2-0 at Ange Postecoglou’s Yokohama F. Marinos on Sunday.

Adam Taggart was absent while Terry Antonis was an 86th minute substitute as Suwon Bluewings won 1-0 at Gwangju in the Korean K League on Saturday.

Brandon O’Neill played a full game as Pohang Steelers drew 1-1 with Incheon United on Sunday.

In K2 League, Connor Chapman put in a full shift as Daejeon Hana Citizen won 2-1 over Jeju United.

Anthony Kalik put in a full shift as HNK Gorica drew 0-0 with Slaven Koprivnica in Croatia’s Prva HNL on Friday.
