Socceroos Central: Souttar wears armband, Delbridge goal

Harry Souttar impressed wearing the armband for the first time for Stoke City along with new Socceroo Callum Elder, while Martin Boyle returned from injury and Harrison Delbridge scored in Korea.

Harry Souttar was named Stoke City captain for the first time, leading the way in a 2-1 win over Huddersfield Town in the English Championship on Saturday.

The Stoke Sentinel rated Souttar 7/10 for his full shift, writing: "Proud day as he was named captain. Strong and composed as leader with or without armband."

Days after his Socceroos duty, Callum Elder earned an 8/10 rating as Hull City drew 0-0 away to Swansea City.

The Hull Daily Mail wrote: "Must be shattered after all his travelling this week, but delivered a fine display. Possibly lucky to get away with a penalty shout second half."

Kenny Dougall was a 79th minute substitute as Blackpool won 1-0 over Fulham, who didn’t have Tyrese Francois in their matchday squad.

Ajdin Hrustic was straight back into Eintracht Frankfurt's starting line-up after international duty, playing 59 minutes in a1-1 home draw with VfB Stuttgart in the German Bundesliga on Sunday.

Jackson Irvine got his first major minutes for St Pauli, coming on as a 63rd-minute substitute in their 1-0 loss at Hannover 96 in the 2.Bundesliga on Saturday.

Martin Boyle was back to fitness after his hamstring issue on Socceroos duty, playing a full game as Hibernian drew 0-0 at Hearts in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.

Cameron Devlin was an unused sub for Hearts, having joined the club last month.

Boyle earned a 7/10 rating from the Daily Record who wrote: "The man who makes Hibs tick. Close with two efforts in the first half and created huge chance for Maggenis in second."

Tom Rogic started and played 78 minutes as Celtic won 3-0 over Ross County, who had Ash Maynard-Brewer on the bench.

Matt Millar made his debut for St Mirren following his recent move, playing 66 minutes from the start in a 0-0 draw with Dundee United.

Alex Gersbach slotted straight into the Grenoble starting XI at left back, playing a full game as they won 2-1 over Nimes in the French Ligue 2 on Saturday.

Mitch Langerak kept another clean sheet as Nagoya Grampus won 3-0 over Tokushima Vortis in the Japanese J.League on Friday.

Harrison Delbridge scored with a glancing header as Incheon United went down 2-1 to Jeju United in the Korean K-League on Saturday.

Delbridge, who put in a full shift on the left side of a back three, beat two defenders to a ball from a short corner, nodding home in the 65th minute.
