Adam Taggart made his debut for Cerezo Osaka in their 1-1 derby draw with Gamba Osaka in Japan's J.League on Sunday.

Taggart was thrust into the action in the 23rd minute as a substitute after an early injury to veteran forward Yoshito Okubo.

Cerezo won a 44th minute penalty but Taggart didn’t take the spotkick, instead that went to Yuta Toyokawa who hit the post and missed.

Sadly for Taggart, he was replaced in the 63rd minute with scores still 0-0, so it was hardly a debut to remember.

Mat Ryan got another chance for Arsenal and kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 win away to Newcastle in the English Premier League on Sunday.

Ryan got the nod ahead of Bernd Leno, amid the Gunners' busy fixtures with their Europa League semi-finals.

The Socceroo earned a 6/10 rating from Football London who wrote: "Commanding and loud as ever, the Australian continues to make a case that he should be a permanent signing in the summer.

"A good save from Saint-Maximin as well shows he can back all the talk up."

Brad Smith scored one goal and provided the assist for the other as the Seattle Sounders won 3-0 over the LA Galaxy in the MLS on Sunday (US time).

Smith, who started and played 79 minutes, got down the left flank and laid off the pass for Raul Ruidiaz's 20th minute opener.

The Socceroo made it 2-0 three minutes later, when he poked home after his initial shot was saved, making it two goals in two games.

Lawrence Thomas kept a clean sheet as SonderjyskE triumphed 2-0 over OB in the Danish Superliga on Sunday.

Awer Mabil was a 76th minute substitute in FC Midtjylland's 3-0 win over FC Nordsjaelland on Sunday.

Harry Souttar played a full game as Stoke City lost 2-0 at home to QPR in the Championship and was rated 5/10 by the Stoke Sentinel, after a costly error in defence.

"A big danger of being so good at bringing the ball out from the back is that occasionally you’ll get caught and punished. It hasn’t happened often, this was a bad ‘un," the Stoke Sentinel wrote.

Riley McGree was a 74th minute substitute for Birmingham City in a 4-0 home loss to Cardiff City.

Ryan Edwards was substituted off due to injury after 11 minutes in Burton Albion's 1-1 draw with Gillingham in League One.

The Burton website explained: "Ryan Edwards went to block a cross and required attention from the medical team and despite initially trying to continue Owen Gallacher was summoned from the bench."
