Adam Taggart was injured as Cerezo Osaka qualified for the last 16 of the AFC Champions League, while Alex Grant's Pohang Steelers also progressed.

In the AFC Champions League group stage, Cerezo Osaka drew 0-0 with Hong Kong club Kitchee to seal their passage to the knockout stage.

Adam Taggart was introduced in search of a goal in the 62nd minute but had to be replaced less than 20 minutes later due to injury.

No further details have yet been provided on the extent of the injury.

The Socceroos striker, who scored his only goal for Cerezo last month against Kitchee, has only managed six appearances for his new Japanese club since switching from Suwon Bluewings in December.

Taggart has also been linked with Indian club Mohun Bagan, with preliminary talks reportedly held.

Alex Grant played a full game in defence as Pohang Steelers scored late to draw 1-1 with Mitch Langerak's Nagoya Grampus, with both sides progressing to the last 16.

Langerak was absent for Nagoya after a busy period of five games in two weeks.

Shane Lowry competed in the same group with Malaysian club Johor Darul Ta'zim, who bowed out in third, finishing with a 0-0 draw against Thai outfit Ratchaburi. The Aussie put in a full shift.

Ryan Edwards debuted for Busan I'Park after his move last week from Burton Albion. He started and played 85 minutes in the Korean K2-League as Busan lost 1-0 at home to Jeonnam Dragons.

Brad Smith continues to play his part for early pace setters Seattle Sounders who won 2-0 over Houston Dynamo in MLS. Smith was an 84th minute substitute.

Andy Rose played a full game at the back for Vancouver Whitecaps who lost 4-0 to Real Salt Lake.

Smith's Seattle are unbeaten across 13 games and top of the Western Conference, with Rose's Whitecaps down in 13th without a win in eight games.

Willam Baynham put in a full shift as Queen's Park won 1-0 at Queen of the South in the Scottish League Cup.

There's also been some club changes, with Jackson Irvine signing with German second tier club St Pauli and Brandon Borrello moving to Dynamo Dresden.

Socceroos number one Mat Ryan is reportedly close to sealing a move from Brighton & Hove Albion back to Spain to join Real Sociedad.

Kuwait SC announced the signing of Socceroos defender Ryan McGowan and Nikita Rukavytsya's future is unclear with his Maccabi Haifa contract expiring.

Rukavytsya has reportedly been offered a two-year deal by Maccabi Tel Aviv, while Hapoel Beersheva are also interested in the Israeli league top scorer.
